Mama's Pot was derived from the word Mama, which is an informal term for a mother, usually used in West Africa and amongst the African Americans, and Pot, which is a round, fairly deep cooking vessel with a handle and often a lid.
Among Africans, the main homemaker, and thus the one who cooks for the family, is the mother. She takes pride in her role as the "family cook" and never complains. She ensures that each meal is perfect by paying attention to every detail, including the look and taste.
Africans tend to have large families, most of who have no blood ties, thus the mother has a wide age gap to cater for. This is always reflected in her meals as she ensures the taste is mature and tasteful enough to satisfy those with a mature taste bud yet gentle and sumptuous enough to entice the less mature taste buds.
To ensure everyone at the dinner table is always satisfies, she never ceases to get feedback to enable her serve her guests even better and is never wary of criticism.
All these, whilst still ensuring the quality of the meal is not compromised in any way.
